Rhonda Kay – A Rare Cold-Tolerant Tropical by Kenneth Landon
Created by award-winning hybridizer Kenneth Landon, Rhonda Kay is an unusual tropical water lily that breaks the mold. One of the very few tropical varieties known to tolerate cooler climates, it performs reliably in USDA Zones 7b–10—making it a top choice for gardeners in borderline tropical regions.
The tall, prolific blooms typically open in a rich, saturated purple, but in warmer climates, the flowers may shift to a stunning true blue, offering a dynamic display throughout the season. This variety is also impressively adaptable, requiring as little as 4 hours of sunlight per day to bloom—perfect for ponds with partial sun.
Reaches up to 5 feet in spread—allow ample space for full display.
Grows well in a 1–5 gallon circular planter pot.
Excellent for collectors and enthusiasts seeking a cold-tolerant tropical that’s both rare and beautiful.
