This is a vigorous, hardy hybrid water lily that performs exceptionally well, even continuing to bloom into mid-winter in warmer climates such as Zone 8b. The flowers feature a classic star shape and are held slightly above the water’s surface. Petal coloration can vary with conditions, often displaying subtle orange patterning near the base of the lower petals.
The foliage consists of dark olive-green pads accented with maroon splotches, adding visual interest even when not in bloom. This is a fast-growing variety, ideal for quickly establishing dense surface coverage in ponds. In mild climates, foliage may persist through the winter months.
Best grown:
- USDA Zones 4–10
- From cluster-forming tubers
- In large circular or rectanular, shallow containers
- At water depths ranging from 6" to 28" (measured from soil to surface)
